statement of beliefs
our foundation of faith
At Vision Church, our beliefs shape who we are and how we live. They’re more than just statements on a page—they’re the foundation for everything we do. We invite you to explore what we believe and see how these truths can bring hope and purpose to your life.
The Bible
We believe that the Bible is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God. We affirm that the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments were written by human authors under the divine guidance of the Holy Spirit, ensuring their truth and reliability. The Bible serves as the ultimate foundation for our faith and practice, providing clear direction and wisdom for every aspect of life. We are committed to studying and teaching God’s Word faithfully, trusting that it is fully trustworthy and sufficient for guiding us in our walk with Christ.
God
We believe in one eternal God who exists in three distinct persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Each person of the Trinity is fully God, equal in power, glory, and authority, yet they work in perfect harmony. God is the Creator and Sustainer of all things, exercising sovereign rule over all creation with love, wisdom, and grace. He is holy, unchanging, and completely worthy of our trust. As our loving Father, He is faithful to His promises and deeply compassionate toward His people, guiding us in every step of our lives.
Jesus
We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, fully divine and fully human. Born of the virgin Mary through the miraculous work of the Holy Spirit, He lived a sinless life, demonstrating the love and power of God. Jesus died on the cross as the perfect and final sacrifice for the sins of humanity, offering redemption to all who believe in Him. On the third day, He rose bodily from the grave, conquering death and securing eternal life for us. Now seated at the right hand of the Father, Jesus is the Head of His Church and our mediator, and we eagerly await His glorious return to complete His redemptive mission.
The Holy Spirit
We believe in the power and presence of the Holy Spirit, who indwells every believer at the moment of salvation. The Holy Spirit glorifies Jesus, convicts the world of sin, and leads us into all truth. He assures us of our salvation, comforts us in times of need, and empowers us to live out our faith with boldness. The Spirit equips each believer with spiritual gifts for service, unites us as the body of Christ, and guides us in our journey of becoming more like Jesus. We believe that life in Christ is lived through the ongoing power and work of the Holy Spirit.
Mankind
We believe that every person is created in the image of God, designed for relationship with Him. However, through sinful disobedience, humanity became separated from God and unable to restore that relationship through personal effort. Our only hope for redemption is through Jesus Christ, who died for our sins as a perfect and substitutionary sacrifice. Through His shed blood, all who place their faith in Him are forgiven, redeemed, and brought into a right relationship with God.
Salvation
We believe that salvation is a gift of God's grace, made possible through the shed blood of Jesus Christ on the cross. His death and resurrection provide the only way for the forgiveness of sins and reconciliation with God. Salvation cannot be earned through our own efforts, but is freely offered to all who place their faith in Jesus Christ as their Savior. Through repentance and faith in Christ, we are made new by the Holy Spirit, declared righteous before God, and adopted into His family forever.
The Church
We believe that the Church is the body of Christ, with Jesus as its head. All who have placed their faith in the finished work of Christ are part of this universal Church. We are called to gather together as a local community of believers, devoted to worship, prayer, the teaching of God’s Word, and fellowship. As a church, we seek to glorify God by living in obedience to His commands, serving one another with our gifts, and sharing the gospel with the world. Together, we work in love and unity, intent on making Christ known and building His Kingdom.
Eternity
We believe in the personal and visible return of Jesus Christ to establish His Kingdom on earth. We believe in the bodily resurrection of both the saved and the lost. Those who have placed their faith in Jesus will experience eternal joy and life in His presence in Heaven, while those who reject Him will face eternal separation from God in Hell. Our eternal destination is determined by our response to Jesus Christ, and we live with the hope of His return, knowing it has a profound impact on how we live, serve, and share the gospel today.
Baptism and Communion
We believe that baptism is a public declaration of a believer’s faith in Jesus Christ, symbolizing their identification with His death, burial, and resurrection through immersion in water. It is an act of obedience, celebrating the transformative work of Christ in our lives. We also observe the Lord’s Supper (Communion) as a time to remember Christ’s sacrifice on the cross and to reflect on His return. These practices are expressions of love and devotion, not requirements for salvation, but important acts of worship and fellowship within the church.
Our Purpose and Calling
We believe that every person is created in the image of God with the purpose of glorifying Him and enjoying a relationship with Him. As followers of Jesus, we are called to participate in the Great Commission, sharing the love of Christ and making disciples of all nations. It is our privilege and duty as believers to live out this calling, not just through organized outreach, but by living lives that naturally point others to Christ through love, service, and the teaching of God's Word. Our mission is to see lives transformed by the gospel, both in Bend and beyond.
Trinity
We believe in one eternal, living God who exists in perfect unity as three distinct persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Each person of the Trinity is fully and equally God, sharing the same divine nature, attributes, and authority. Though they fulfill different roles in the story of redemption, they are always in perfect harmony, working together to accomplish God’s will. We honor and glorify the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit as one God, worthy of all worship, love, and obedience.
Marriage
We believe that marriage is a sacred covenant, ordained by God, designed to be a lifelong union between one man and one woman. This union reflects God’s design for love, commitment, and partnership. Marriage is not only a personal relationship but a holy commitment to glorify God through mutual love and faithfulness. We recognize marriage as defined by Scripture, and it is within this framework that we honor and uphold the sanctity of this covenant.
